the 9 to 5

A man dressed in a suit and tie, sitting on a toilet in a bathroom, with his head resting on his hand, looking down, appearing thoughtful or sad.

Inspired by the overlooked realities of professional boxing, this series follows Jack and his boxing journey through the lens of a traditional 9-to-5 job. The rigid structure of corporate life collides with the unpredictable, unforgiving nature of boxing. Like any other working man, Jack wakes up dreading the day, suits up for the work, endures the horrible daily commute, clocks in and out at the gym, only to do it all again tomorrow. Through dark humor and stark realism, these images explore the tension between passion and exhaustion, discipline and disillusionment, ambition and survival. Beneath this all lies a deeper commentary on mental health, imposter syndrome, and the instability of a boxing career in today’s shifting landscape. By mirroring the rigid routine of corporate life, it challenges the perception of what makes a career real, sparking a broader conversation within the boxing community and beyond about the unseen labor, instability, and commitment that define a fighter’s life. Boxing is anything less than a real job, mirroring the relentless rat race of corporate work life.
